I need to send my balance in for service. Where should I send it?
The first thing you should do is contact the dealer you bought the balance from. Many OHAUS dealers also have service departments. If your dealer does not perform service at their location, you can contact
the OHAUS Technical Support Team who will assist you further.
If your balance needs to be shipped for repair, it should be packed very carefully. Please remember the shipper is only responsible for shipping damage if the damage is evident on the packaging.
Poorly packaged balances can be damaged in shipping without any visible signs of damage to the packaging, the original packaging is best. Remove all loose items such as platforms, platform supports and line cords and pack them separately. Be sure to ship them with the balance. Batteries should be removed before shipping.
The package should be insured for the replacement value of the balance.

Is readability and accuracy the same thing?
No, the readability of a balance is the smallest quantity that the balance will display. Accuracy is the difference between the known weight of a sample and the displayed weight. The accuracy of a balance can be measured only when the balance is in its operating environment.
What is the difference between a Span and a Linearity calibration?
A span calibration sets the balance at two points. Usually zero and full capacity. A linearity calibration sets the balance at three points. Usually zero, half capacity and full capacity.
